Henry Burris, Global Gym Cobras Touchdown Dance, Video

Henry Burris, Global Gym Cobras Touchdown Dance, Video. Who is Henry Burris? You need to brush up on your CFL. He is the Calgary Stampeders’ QB. What is the Global Gym Cobras Touchdown Dance? You need to brush up on your Ben Stiller movies. Dodgeball was the movie, and The Cobra was the dance.

Why can’t the stiffs in the NFL do anything original like this? All we get is a bunch of grown men unsnapping their chinstrap with enthusiasm… Seriously… That is the move that has taken over the nation. As soon as someone scores they unsnap their chinstrap as if to say ” I’m too sexy for this chinstrap”.

Now he just needs to get the whole team to do it.

Nobody makes Henry Burris bleed his own blood.

Kenyon Martin: Games With Replacement Refs Will Be 'Terrible'

Chris Tomassonby Chris Tomasson

Kenyon MartinDENVER -- Kenyon Martin can joke a little about replacement officials. Overall, though, he doesn't think it's too funny.

In an interview with FanHouse, Martin said he believes games will be "terrible'' with the replacements.

"I joked the other day with [Tim Grgurich] and Jamahl Mosley,'' the Denver Nuggets feisty forward said about talking to a pair of assistant coaches. "I'm going to get suspended in the first month of the season. I'm going to have 15 technicals in the first month just for the simple fact [replacement officials] don't know how I run my mouth. They don't know how I approach the game.''

They might find out in a hurry. Martin and his Nuggets play Thursday at Utah in the NBA preseason opener and first game using replacement referees.

WNBA Finals Open With OT Thriller

PHOENIX -- This game was more than one for the record books. It was one to show the grandchildren, not to mention potential sponsors and season-ticket buyers and the mainstream sports fans on ESPN who sell the women's game short.

It was beautiful, competitive, offensive basketball, a showcase for the WNBA and its world-class talent.

It was not, however, a defensive clinic.

But who says defense wins championships? Not the Mercury.

Curry, Gallinari on court for Knicks

New York Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni talks to players as center Eddy Curry(notes) listens NBA basketball training camp in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009.

Eddy Curry and Danilo Gallinari made it through the opening practice of training camp, which already puts them ahead of where they were last year. What they can do when the games start is a key to the New York Knicks’ hopes this season. After watching their teammates during much of 2008-09, Curry and Gallinari joined them on the floor at Skidmore College on Tuesday, a positive start to Mike…

Rashard Lewis on 10-Game Suspension: 'I Did Nothing Wrong'

Tim Povtakby Tim Povtak

Filed under:

Rashard LewisORLANDO -- Magic All-Star forward Rashard Lewis was anything but contrite Monday when his team gathered the day before training camp begins.

Lewis will open the regular season serving his 10-game suspension for violating the NBA's Anti-Drug Agreement last spring. He tested positive for a banned substance (commonly known as DHEA) that was found in an over-the-counter supplement he was taking.

"I still feel like I did nothing wrong,'' he said. "I've received more support than negative feedback. It's only 10 games in an 82-game season. It's not going to make or break us. When Game 11 comes, I'll be ready to go.''

Kings' Beno Udrih Blames Coaching For 17-Win Season

Tom Zillerby Tom Ziller

Filed under:

A lot of Kings fans, myself included, spent the 2008-09 season bemoaning the inability of Sacramento starting point guard Beno Udrih to cleanly pass the ball. But let me assure you: Beno has no problem passing the blame.

A candid, borderline cheerful Beno discussed the abominable 17-win season with Sacramento media Monday. And his opinion on what went wrong was impossible to misinterpret: blame coaches Reggie Theus and Kenny Natt.

"Sometimes last season, I didn't know if I was a small forward or a point guard," the 6'3 Udrih said. "We were definitely confused. We didn't have roles."

Struggling QBs Romo, Delhomme square off

Cheer up, Tony Romo. Jake Delhomme knows exactly how it feels. Those frustrating interceptions. All the griping fans. The support of teammates that you hope is sincere. A body of work that shows turnovers are just part of the deal, the downside of the go-for-broke style that lifted you from obscurity to Pro Bowler and multimillionaire.

Lions Slightly Homoerotic Celebration, Video

Lions Slightly Homoerotic Celebration, Video. Dumping Gatorade on your coach is cool. Dowsing your coach with one bottle of water as he gazes into your eyes … is not cool.

Maybe I am over reacting, but you get the feeling that the camera man is a third wheel to this Jim Schwarts and Larry Foote moment.

NBA's Rumored Twitter Policy Is Minimal, Sensible

Tom Zillerby Tom Ziller

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the coming NBA Twitter policy will be less stringent than the guidelines NFL commissioner Roger Goodell enacted in his league. The main thrust of the NBA's policy will be extending the "criticism of officials" to social media, which means players and coaches can get fined for tweeting something like "these rplcment refs r tha suxxors, amirite????."

Teams will also reportedly be allowed to adjust their own social media guidelines, which of course means Bulls and Spurs will have to immediately delete all their social media accounts, while the Mavericks and Knicks will be allowed to update their Match.com profiles from the huddle. One assumes the league policy will go up in smoke during All-Star Weekend, and I'm really eager to see how someone incorporates a Facebook status update into their dunk contest attempt. (By "really eager" I mean "the complete opposite of eager.")

Pacers Won't Have Hansbrough, Dunleavy For a While

Tom Zillerby Tom Ziller

Golden boy NCAA champ Tyler Hansbrough, a lottery pick of the Pacers, isn't getting off on the right foot -- err, shin -- in Indianapolis. A nagging shin injury Hansbrough dealt with at the start of his senior season at North Carolina has returned, and the rook has been deemed to be out "indefinitely." That means he'll miss at the least the start of training camp this week, and perhaps the preseason or the opening weeks of the regular season.

The news ain't good for Mike Dunleavy, either. Lil' Dun missed the majority of 2008-09, and he won't be ready on time for this season either. Indy coach Jim O'Brien told media Dunleavy won't likely be practicing until November, which puts the forward on schedule to miss at least a half-dozen regular season games.

The injuries have opened up an opportunity for other players, though. Like Rod Benson.

Rose: I took SAT before going to Memphis

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose(notes) smiles as he talks to the media during NBA basketball media day in Deerfield, Ill., Friday, Sept. 25, 2009.

Derrick Rose tutored the top teens in China on a basketball teaching tour with Dwight Howard. He shot a video game commercial with Kobe Bryant, too, so there really were some fun moments during the offseason no matter how bad it looked at times. That photo of him flashing gang signs wasn’t one of his finest moments.

Magic Don't Want Vince Carter Fitting In

Vince CarterORLANDO -- Ever since he was traded to the Orlando Magic almost three months ago, Vince Carter has said all the right things. He's talked endlessly about fitting in with a team that reached the NBA Finals last season, about altering his game to fit with center Dwight Howard, and about being happy to change the way he has played his entire career.

On Friday, coach Stan Van Gundy finally asked him to stop.

He doesn't want Carter fitting in. He wants him standing out.

Teams Might Remain Stingy in Handing Out Guaranteed Contracts

DENVER -- In this faltering economy, there are have been lots of good deals. Low-interest car loans. Double frequent-flyer miles. A cheaper menu at Quiznos.

Many good deals won't last. But some in the NBA might.

Everybody knows about NBA salaries having spiraled out of control the past few decades. Owners are determined to reel them in, which is why there's a decent chance there will be a lockout after the 2010-11 season.
