The Princess and the Tiger, Conan Video. The video is amusing. There is a Tiger Woods joke. Hilarity ensues.

I am more interested in a few little things I recently noticed on the Tonight Show.

1. Andy is now sitting next to Conan, like they used to do on Late Night. That makes sense, but it was odd to see.

2. At the beginning of every Monologue, Conan always does a little jump and Max hits a snare right when he does it. During the last 2 shows, I noticed that Conan did the little jump, but Max missed the snare hit, or they are doing away with the the jump/snare hit combo. ( I hope Conan’s PR people do not read this post and issue a restraining order against me. I just like the show … a lot. )

Lakers, Cavs Not Buying Christmas Hype

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Perhaps there should have been a sign posted Thursday at the Los Angeles Lakers practice facility. It would have read: "What the Lakers say doesn't necessarily reflect the views of the NBA and its broadcast partners.''

The NBA and ABC/ESPN have gone into overdrive hyping Friday's Christmas matchup between the Lakers and Cavaliers at the Staples Center. As far as the Lakers are concerned, it might as well be the Pacers visiting.

"It's just a game that I guess people want to see,'' said Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, downplaying his duel with Cavaliers forward LeBron James (more on that later). "For us, it's just another game to go out and execute and play well.

"(Last year's Christmas game) was like a statement game for us. This year's a little bit different.''

Bernard King Still Has Christmas Crown

Jeff Turner can laugh about it now, 25 years later. As an NBA rookie in 1984, he was thrilled to be playing on Christmas Day in Madison Square Garden, the biggest stage of his life, primed to be starting now at small forward for the New Jersey Nets.

Two minutes after tip-off, though, he knew this would not end well for him.

Bernard King of the New York Knicks was on a mission, about to set the league on fire. And Turner would serve as the footnote, the guy trying to guard him.

"I still call it the 'Christmas Day massacre,' '' joked Turner last week. "I think I fouled out before I could break a sweat.''

It was King who made history that day and carved his name into NBA Christmas lore, torching Turner and the Nets for 60 points, most ever in the storied sports cathedral, and still the most points ever scored on the league's annual celebration of basketball.

Turned played 10 seasons in the NBA as a serviceable role player, getting his turn against future Hall of Fame forwards like Larry Bird, Julius Erving, Adrian Dantley and Karl Malone, but no one ever impressed him more than King on that memorable Christmas Day.
