Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird has been ruled out of next weekend’s Japan Cup Dirt after a small chip was detected in his right front carpal bone. The colt’s owner, Dr. Kalarikkal Jayaraman, said the chip was detected following the 3-year-old colt’s track work on Sunday morning at the race venue — Hanshin Race Course.
