Rockets star-turned-roleplayer Tracy McGrady has put Houston in a bit of a bind. He's back, and while it's hard to tell whether he's been a boon or bane, he has played without re-aggravating his knee, on which he had microfracture surgery performed 10 months ago. As the team's longtime Alpha and its still-current highest paid player, McGrady feels it is time to get more minutes. He said as much earlier this week, after his sixth straight appearance of exactly seven minutes. The Rockets apparently haven't decided whether to get McGrady back in the starting line-up. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports that in the course of figuring it out, the team will actually sit McGrady for its weekend games (Saturday in New Jersey, Sunday in Cleveland). When the Rockets return to Houston, the franchise's management will discuss the rotation, and whether McGrady ought to be a big part of it.
