The list of banged-up All-Stars is pretty long this year. Kobe Bryant (will probably play), Paul Pierce (might play), Kevin Garnett (will probably play) all would do well to sit but won't. Chris Paul's out. And it turns out we may not see Brandon Roy, either.According to the Columbian, Roy is "uncertain" as to his status for the All-Star Game due to a hamstring injury that has held him out in eleven of the last twelve Blazer games. Roy said that if he's not able to go in the three Portland games before All-Star Weekend, he won't go in the big exhibition on Sunday. Roy's absence would open the door for Monta Ellis, who is the other guard considered after Chauncey Billups was tapped to replace Chris Paul.
The Blazers have gamely been battling through the near-roster-sized injury list they carry, and Roy's obviously the biggest loss they've suffered through yet. With the Lakers in town tomorrow, Roy's "day to day" injury would help a lot if it would allow him to go sooner. But even then, is participating in a meaningless exhibition as a reserve worth the risk of tweaking the injury again? The Blazers are running out of options at this point. Any more injuries and they're looking at petitioning for their games to be three on three.
