Red Wings forward Kirk Maltby has been placed on long-term injured reserve and will have right shoulder surgery that will sideline him for four to six weeks. Detroit also activated defenseman Andreas Lilja (LIL’-yeh) from injured reserve Friday. The nine-year NHL veteran is expected to make his season debut Monday against the Colorado Avalanche.
