DENVER -- Goodbye No. 2 seed.Maybe adios No. 3.
Perhaps sayonara to No. 4.
The Denver Nuggets did themselves no favors for playoff positioning in the West by being routed 104-85 by San Antonio on Saturday night at the Pepsi Center. With forward Kenyon Martin returning after missing 18 games with left knee tendinitis, the Nuggets returned to some of their old ways of screaming at referees and imploding.
But here's the rub. Martin had nothing to do with any of that. He was Mr. Level-Headed on a night even Nuggets captain and consummate sportsman Chauncey Billups got one of Denver's four technicals and in which star Carmelo Anthony was ejected.
"It's not the first time it's happened,'' Nuggets acting coach Adrian Dantley said of all the technicals. "A lot of times guys get frustrated and get a technical.''
