You hope if you have a year like the Suns did, coming out of nowhere to make the Western Conference finals, that you have an opportunity to make another run with the same core. It's so difficult in the modern salary-cap era. And it's unlikely to happen for the Suns since Amar'e Stoudemire wants that fifth year in his contract so bad he can taste the Mojitos on South Beach. But they'll at least be getting part of that bench mob band back together.
KTAR in Phoenix is reporting that the Suns have reached an agreement with Channing Frye for the seven-foot marksman to return to the Suns under a 5-year, $30 million deal (5 years, $30 million is the new black of the NBA).
Frye was an instrumental part of the Suns' run this season, shooting 44 percent from the arc and being part of a bench unit that helped the Suns overwhelm the Spurs in the second round. It was a bizarre development for the athletic blogger that hadn't really ever shown that kind of range before. Frye was a fan favorite in Phoenix, and the regenerative healing powers of their training staff helped him stay healthy.
