This is an injury that is believed to have originally occurred over the summer while Barbosa was playing for the Brazilian national team. But since the swelling had recently come back to the point where he was scheduled to get the wrist drained today, Suns general manager Steve Kerr talked about the need to get it taken care of once and for all.
"He had it aspirated the first time, and used anti-inflammatories, and it came back," Kerr said. "So the feeling is, we'll surgically remove it this time, which will give him a much better prognosis in terms of it not returning."
