This is part 5 of my “No One Reads Your Stupid Blog” series.
1. There are only a few successful sports blogs.
2. There are 2 different kinds of successful bloggers, ?Talented?
3. The other type of successful blogger is, ? Famous?
4. Sports Blogging?s White Lie ?Perceived Power?
This will most likely be the last installment of this diatribe. One of the main points of this series was to point out that there are very few HUGE bloggers, and you should not be disappointed if you are not one of the few and the proud.
There is another guy that I want to talk about. This blogger works hard. He is not connected to a huge website. He has been blogging for a while, or is 100% dedicated to making it work. This guy is “In It To Win It“.
I consider myself one of these characters. I am not the best example right now because of everything going on in real life, but I have dedicated 3 years to my little blogging empire, and lots of money. ( not lots of money, but some money )
I am friends with hundreds of these bloggers, and I am close friends with a bunch of them.
If you are a sports blogger and you are “In It To Win It”, then you will either make it a success, you will be called up to the major web sites, or you will move on to better brighter things. They will not fail. They have built up way too much good karma.
In the earlier posts I have been hard on “Social Media Gurus”. You know what, if a blogger is really good at that, then more power to them. I personally know professional sports bloggers that write what they love half the time, and spend the other half of the time pimping their stuff out on social media, and building their social media profile. That is amazing!
My point is if you are going “all out” and you are “In it to win it”, then you will be a force. I could go into great detail of what that means, but I think it is different for each person. My suggestion is to go to the main bloggers in your sport/field/ etc.. and communicate with them. Learn from them you will see where you want to be and how you can get there. Somewhere along the way, you will become a talented sports blogger.
I know it might seem like I am backing off of my stance, but I am not. Sports Blogging is a tough game. Anyone can write junk on a blog, but only a few people will be successful. So, Bring it on! (lame punchline is in the video below)
