The Cleveland Cavaliers are one step from accomplishing everything they wanted to accomplish this regular season. They took care of another item on the checklist when they secured the best record in the East with a win over Atlanta on Friday night. That win, combined with Orlando's loss in San Antonio, means the Cavs will be the East's top seed for the second year in a row.
The next item: Securing home court for the entire playoffs. Their magic number: One.
Friday night Cleveland took care of the second opponent that came into their building intent on making a pre-playoff statement. Wednesday the Milwaukee Bucks went down. Friday it was the Hawks. The team likely to be the third seed in the East has now lost nine in a row to Cleveland, including a sweep in last season's playoffs.
The Cavs become the ninth franchise in NBA history to win 60 games in consecutive seasons. They have won 11 of 12 and 17 of 19 as the most important time of the year approaches. And they will soon be getting Shaquille O'Neal back.
