With just one week to go until the 2010 NBA Draft, it's time to give an opinion. Instead of guessing where players might go, in this mock draft I'll make a short pitch to each first-round club on which player they ought to pick. Again: this is not a projection so much as a set of suggestions.
Even though some teams and analysts focus on a Best Player Available strategy in every situation, I do take fit into account. If Player A is slightly better than Player B, but a team has a hole at B's position and logjam at A's position, it makes more sense to take B. But only if the difference in quality is slight. You can't pass up a potential world-beater to fill a hole at back-up point guard. Fit and need do matter.
Let's dive in.
1. Washington Wizards: John Wall, Kentucky
Wall is not only the best prospect of the 2010 draft -- he might be the best prospect since Kevin Durant in 2007. There's no reason for the Wizards to even think about passing on Wall.
