NBA Pursuing Purchase of New Orleans Hornets

The NBA is in the advanced stages of a plan to purchase the New Orleans Hornets from George Shinn until a new owner can be secured, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions.



While it remains possible that the league won't follow through on the move that, according to Sports Illustrated, has been discussed since a Board of Governors meeting in October, the source said they are under the impression this unprecedented transfer is "coming down soon." The source also said that the NBA has already pegged individuals within the league office who would run the franchise temporarily.



And once again, the future of basketball down on the Bayou is in question.
