Jockey Scott Stevens sustained critical but non-life-threatening injuries, including two punctured lungs and fractured vertebrae, after his mount suffered an apparent injury and tumbled during a race at Canterbury Park. Canterbury spokesman Jeff Maday (muh-DAY’) said Stevens was leading aboard Sombre in the sixth race Friday night when the horse went down.
